Bella

12-23-2007 Update: Bella has been adopted

Bella came to us like many of our rescues do…through a phone call.  A woman reported a friendly cat trying to get into the doors of an apartment complex.  She told us that this cat had been hanging around for awhile, being friendly, looking for food and a gesture of kindness.  No one responded.  This went on for 3 weeks!  Finally, the woman picked her up and brought her to us.

What we received was an emaciated, 2 –3 year old declawed female tuxedo.  We fed her, killed her fleas, found a foster home for her, and gave her a warm safe place for the first time in who knows how long.  She responded with purrs, head butts and rubs; all things that she obviously had been missing.

Bella’s vet check showed more sadness than we bargained for.  Xrays indicated an old injury…a broken pelvis…healed… but incorrectly so.  This gives Bella a strange walking gait and keeps her from being able to jump on a lot of things. She has adjusted well and does not seem to be in any pain, but how hard it must have been to be outside trying to find food and staying safe with all those things being wrong.

Bella is a wonderful girl. She is getting stronger and more confident every day.  She purrs and follows her foster mom around. She wants to sleep on the bed at night, and is pretty ok with the other cats in her foster home.  She would be fine being an only cat or as a companion to another who wouldn’t play too roughly with her.  Small children would probably not be good for her, but she is very happy with any attention she gets.

Can you make Bella believe that there really is a Santa Claus and give her a forever home?
